Read about my vintage love here. This is a brief story of… my vintage love.
What can I say? I absolutely love vintage… everything, really. I love vintage prints, clothes and materials, dishes, silver, linens, purses, jewelry, and so much more. I often think and truly believe that I was born about 75 years too late.
I have been collecting vintage things pretty much since I went to college. A couple of friends and I used to go to the local antique mall and spend HOURS in there – just looking and loving and sometimes, buying. Okay, we would buy almost every single time. A hand towel here and a colored glass bowl there. I still have most of those lovely finds. I still love them just as much as I did then and I still use them.
Some of my favorite things were the jewelry, the purses, and the scarves. And I loved the fact that I could wear something so beautiful and unique and that, more than likely, I was the only one who would be wearing it. These vintage fashions, after all, are hard to find more than one of!
So, fast forward some years. I had started selling my smocked children’s clothes and wanted to expand a little. After several ladies kept asking me about my vintage jewelry, such as where I found it and if I would sell it, I started thinking to myself “Why not find and sell this beautiful jewelry?”. So, I did. And ladies loved the vintage jewelry so much that it inspired me to start selling other vintage things, such as purses, scarves, belts, brooches, and any other vintage fashion that I would want myself. Vintage love, right? Most certainly.
I must admit that every once in a while, I buy a piece of vintage jewelry that I end up keeping. I must also admit that I’m pretty good at selling what I intend to sell, but sometimes, when it’s purchased, I get a little sad. Sad to see it go. But at the same time, I’m so happy that somebody else also loves the vintage and will wear it with their own love. I know that when they do, they also will get stopped and asked “Where did you ever find that beautiful piece of jewelry?”
My vintage love. Yep.
